Pillows, protectors and sheets
The wrong pillow will undo a $900 mattress in a week. Match pillow loft to your sleeping position: low for stomach, medium for back, high for side.
A waterproof protector is also the cheapest way to keep your warranty alive — a single stain voids most manufacturer coverage, and we'd rather sell you a $39 protector than watch a claim get refused.
Straight answers
How much should a good queen mattress cost in Calgary?
A solid pocket-coil hybrid queen that will last eight to ten years sits between $550 and $900 at outlet pricing. Under $350 you're buying a spare-room or short-term bed. Above $1,500 you're paying for brand, cooling tech and a longer warranty rather than a fundamentally better night.
Memory foam or pocket coil — which is better?
Pocket coil breathes better and is easier to move on, which matters if you share the bed or sleep warm. Memory foam isolates motion better and contours more. Every Sealy we stock is a hybrid — coil underneath, foam on top — which is why the question mostly settles itself here.
How long should a mattress last?
Seven to ten years for a mid-range hybrid, five to seven for an entry-level foam. If you can see a body impression deeper than about 1.5 inches, or you sleep better in a hotel, it's done.
Do I need a box spring?
Only if your frame has slats more than 3 inches apart, or no centre support. Platform beds and adjustable bases don't need one. A box spring is a support piece, not a comfort piece — it will not make a firm bed softer.
Can I try mattresses in the store?
That's the whole point of driving out to us instead of ordering online. Lie on your side or back — whichever you actually sleep in — for four minutes per bed, with your own pillow if you brought one.
